What are your memories of the Drive-In? I remember my parents would put us in pajamas, load us up in the car and by the time the movie was over we'd be asleep. I never remember getting home. Really didn't change when I was a teen-ager.....I mean the remember getting home part. - Margo
It's Drive In Day. It was on this day in in 1933, eager motorists parked their automobiles on the grounds of Park-In Theaters, the first-ever drive-in movie theater, located on Crescent Boulevard in Camden, New Jersey. A Brain child of Richard Hollingshead who was inspired by his mother's struggle to sit comfortably in traditional movie theater seats.
You can still enjoy the drive-in at the Parma Motor Vu....playing right now.....The Three Stooges and The Pirates band of Misfits. Or for another outdoor movie experience the Idaho Botanical garden puts on movie nights starting in July with Mamma Mia and later in September the Marilyn Monroe movie "Some Like it Hot".
