A wet, windy, stormy day is taking shape across SW Idaho Thursday, with rain starting up in the morning hours and continuing off and on all day. Isolated thunderstorms are also likely late in the day as things warm up, so keep a Plan B in your back pocket if you have outdoor plans this evening. Remember, "if thunder roars, head indoors!"
Temperatures stay mild today ahead of an approaching cold front, and snow levels will be very high, with ½" of rain or more expected below about 7,500' in the mountains. That has prompted flood watches in many areas, with smaller rivers and streams expected to spill their banks later today. Mudslides are also possible in areas that recently suffered wildfires.
After today, the storms and rain die down, leading to a clearer, drier, calmer Friday. Then, cold air invades, dropping highs into just the 40s in the Treasure Valley this weekend, allowing for a chance of some snow flurries Sunday morning in the Boise area.Read full story
